The Red Fox



The boy held the liquor in his mouth then slowly gulped it. The old
man poured himself another bowl of liquor and took the pipe from
his mouth. His scratchy voice dropped to a whisper. “When I brought
them their repaired nets, they showed me his pelt. The red in his fur
looked so real, like he was still sitting out there waiting for me to throw
him a bluefish.”
